Community is more than living in the same neighborhoods or passing one another on the street. A real community is founded on support, the desire for growth, and shared values that are reinforced constantly through acts of devotion and commitment to one another and to a similar system of values. At Congregation B'nai Israel, building a strong Jewish community-a true community—is our purpose.
When a group of 12 Jewish families from three different city districts decided to work together more than 80 years ago to create the organization that started our congregation, their first thought was to establish a meeting place where those with Jewish faith and values could flourish. Today, after many steps, transitions, and changes, the Congregation B'nai Israel of Staten Island, New York, is a testament to their dedication and a haven for Jewish families in the area.
Congregation B'nai Israel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization: tax ID # 13-5670087
Optimism and motivation abound at Congregation B'nai Israel. Our future is secure in the knowledge that our community is growth-oriented, with a healthy appetite for Jewish programs and the development of strong, resolute Jewish values.
